COLOUR OBSESSIONS ~ Once in a BLUE moon ...

blue, bleu, blu ~ a natural color, from the blue of the sky, blue is a universal color. the cool, calming effect of blue makes time pass more quickly and it can help you sleep making it a beautiful choice for bedrooms. however, too much blue could also dampen spirits.

in using blues, a deep royal blue or azure conveys richness and perhaps even a touch of
superiority. navy blue is almost black and is a bit warmer than lighter blues. combine a light
and dark blue to convey trust and truthfulness — think banker's colors.
although blue is a year-round color, pastel blues, especially along with pinks and
pale yellows suggest springtime while
deep blue is a colder weather color. sreate a conservative but sophisticated look with subtle
contrast by combining light and dark shades of blue.

light blue is associated with health, healing, tranquility, understanding, and softness.
dark blue represents knowledge, power, integrity, and seriousness.

variations of blue include:

denim blue

tiffany blue

navy blue is a very dark blue reminisant to black

bondi blue, a color belonging to the cyan family of blues … think crayola color blue-green

COLOR OBSESSION ~ PINK Oh so pretty in ...

All about Pink! The color of unconditional love, compassion, hope and nurturing. Brighter pinks are youthful, fun, and exciting, while vibrant pinks have the same high energy as red; they are sensual and passionate without being too aggressive.

Toning down the passion of red with the purity of white results in the softer pinks that are associated with romance and affection. Pink is the color of happiness and is sometimes seen as lighthearted. For those whom are stressed and overburden, the visual of pink can bring back carefree childhood memories.

Interestingly in the early part of the twentieth century, pink was once associated as a more masculine hue. The more pastel version of Red. It wasn’t until the 1940s that pink became more of the social norm associated with little girls and blue for little boys & toys.

Variations of pink include

Blush: Similar to skin color, this very pale pink has sensual and sexual connotations. It is non-threatening but lacks passion and energy.

Rose Pink: This is the pink of universal love and unity. It is mature, feminine and intuitive.

Salmon Pink or Coral: a touch of orange in salmon pink. It encourages the flirt, and can be a sign of the timid lover, all talk and no play.

Fuchsia: A blend of deep pink and blue, fuchsia inspires confidence, assurance and maturity, a more responsible and controlled nurturing and love.

Hot Pink: Hot pink inspires a more passionate, playful and sensual love. It exudes warmth and happiness and a love of life.

So the next time you are looking for a colour to calm and soothe your soul, think PINK!

COLOUR OBSESSION ~ GRAY (or Grey)

gray is known as the colour of intellect, wisdom and knowledge and has been perceived as a long-lasting, sleek, classic & refined colour ...

gray is conservative and dignified and often carries a sense of authority. it can be inconspicuous and controlled and is often considered to be the colour of compromise. thus it’s position between black and white!

gray is timeless, practical, and solid. a longstanding favorite suit color

gray can mix well with any color

how to use gray: all shades of gray can be good, neutral background colors. use lighter grays in place of white and darker gray in place of black.

warm grays                                        cool grays

taupe (which i can spend a whole day writing about), is a grayish brown neutral is a conservative, slightly earthy, warm shade of gray

although well liked and often worn, people rarely name gray as a favorite color possibly because gray also is associated with loss or depression. however, use it with the right mix of colours and gray can become the perfect neutral!
